1 1/4 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 Large eggs
1/3 c. corn syrup
2 1/2 tbsp. water
2 teaspoon peppermint extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 c. all-purpose flour
2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. sugar

Heat chocolate over warm water in top of double boiler.

Remove from heat.

Cream shortening, gradually add in 2 c. sugar, beating till light and fluffy.

Add in melted chocolate, Large eggs, corn syrup, water and flavorings; mix well.

Combine flour, soda, and salt; add in to creamed mix, beating just till blended.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in remaining sugar.

Place on ungreased cookie sheets; bake at 350 degrees for 10 min.

Cold on cookie sheets 5 min.

Remove to wire racks and cold completely.
