Lightly grease a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan; set aside.

In mixing bowl thoroughly stir together the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda; set aside.

In a small mixing bowl cream the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs and orange peel; beat well.

In a small bowl mash bananas with fork (should have about 1 cup).

Stir in milk.

Add flour mixture and banana mixture alternately to creamed

Beat until smooth after each addition.

Fold in nuts.

Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 350u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
