1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175 C.).
-
2
Grease and flour two loaf pans.
-
3
Sift the flour, baking powder, poppy seeds, and salt into a bowl and set aside.
-
4
In a large bowl, combine the eggs, milk, and oil together; then add the sugar and blend well.
-
5
Next, add all the flavoring extracts, and blend in well.
-
6
(Note, it is best to use Pure extracts flavors if possible, not imitation flavorings, check the name on the front of the bottle or box).
-
7
Carefully, add the dry flour mixture to the wet mixture, and beat until smooth, but not over-worked.
-
8
Place the batter into the two prepared loaf pans and bake for slightly longer than one hour, bout 65 minutes, and it is imperative to set on a rack to cool, (the bottom of these cakes have a tendency to get soggy if not cooled on a rack).
-
9
In a small bowl, mix together by hand whipping with a fork, until it is smooth and no sugar lumps are present and the sugar is well dissolved, the orange juice (fresh squeezed with a bit of zest is phenominal tasting for this recipe), the powdered sugar, and flavoring extracts.
-
10
Carefully use a slight bit more orange juice for thinner glaze, or add slowly a tad more powdered sugar for thicker glaze.
-
11
Pour Glaze over warm bread in the loaf pans.
-
12
Serve warm or cold.
