1
Preheat grill.
-
2
Arrange ribs in a single layer on a lightly sprayed or oiled 12x16-inch aluminum foil pan, bone side down.
-
3
Pour 1 cup sauce over ribs.
-
4
Place pan holding ribs on grill over medium heat and cook, with cover closed, for 1 hour and 45 minutes, basting occasionally with sauce.
-
5
If pan starts to dry out, add more sauce.
-
6
Remove ribs from the pan and place directly on grill, bone side down.
-
7
Grill until meat is very tender, 15-20 minutes longer, basting several times with remaining sauce.
-
8
Tangy Barbecue Sauce:.
-
9
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together all ingredients and simmer, uncovered, until flavors are blended, 6-7 minutes.
-
10
Note: Removing the membrane is an important step.
-
11
It allows the sauce to penetrate the meat and the fat to drip away during grilling.
-
12
On the underside (bone side) of the ribs, loosen the white membrane with the point of a knife and make a slit large enough so that you can insert your finger under the membrane and pull it up and away from the ribs.
-
13
Using a towel helps grip the membrane.
-
14
Carefully peel back the membrane at an angle.
-
15
You may need to start over once or twice before you are successful, but it is worth the effort.
-
16
(Some butchers will remove the membrane for you).
