College-Style Barbeque

   Plug in your crockpot (if you are in a dorm, check to make sure they are approved, and OK the cooking with your roommate because your whole room will smell of barbecue all day) and set it to the 12hour or slow roast function. Make sure you start this step before you go to breakfast so there is time for the roast to cook. I suggest buying the groceries the night before.

   Cover the bottom of the crockpot with a 1/4-1/2 inch layer of thick style barbecue sauce. I like using KC Masterpiece and Sweet Baby Ray's. KC gives a nice base but lacks the flavor of Sweet Baby Ray's. Sweet Baby Ray's simply isn't thick enough for when you mix the barbecue together.

   Place the roast in the crockpot and smother it with another thick layer of barbecue sauce, this time mixing the two.

   Now you just wait. I recommend that you do at least 10 hours in the crockpot if you want your meat to be really tender and just fall apart. If you like your sandwiches with more chunks of meat, 6-8 hours is perfect if you put the crockpot on a higher setting. Make sure every two hours you check the meat to check the sauce isn't burning on the sides. After about 4 hours you can use the knife to start pulling the meat apart. When its all done add more sauce to your liking. I tend to use about 1/2 a bottle of KC and 3/4 of Sweet Baby Ray's. Then be sure to share with your friends!
