1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
nuts
marshmallows (large)

Add all remaining ingredients except nuts and marshmallows.

Dough will be very stiff and dry.

Chill dough, then roll into 1-inch balls and place each ball on top of a cluster of finely chopped nuts on greased cookie sheet.

Bake 8 minutes in a 350u00b0 oven.

Remove.

Place 1/2 of large marshmallow, cut side down on each cookie and return to oven for 2 minutes.
