In top of a double boiler over simmering water or possibly in a small pan over lowest possible heat, stir chocolate chips till just melted; set aside.

In large bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter and 1 c. of the sugar till creamy; beat in Large eggs and melted chocolate.

In another bowl stir together flour, salt, baking pwdr, and baking soda; gradually add in to butter mix, blending thoroughly.

Place remaining 1/4 c. sugar in a small bowl.

Roll dough into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar to coat.

Place at least 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 12-14 min or possibly till tops appear dry.

Let cold on baking sheet for about a minute, then transfer to racks to cold completely.
