Bread Custard Pudding

   Heat the milk in a saucepan and set aside. Put bread crumbs in a mixing bowl and pour the milk over this. Add the salt and sugar. Beat the eggs and add to the mixture. Add the butter and the vanilla extract and mix well. Pour the mixture into a 1 1/2-quart greased baking dish and set the dish in a larger size baking pan. Pour hot water into the larger pan to within 1-inch of the top of the dish.
