4 cucumbers, sliced
1 white onion, med. (or yellow Spanish)
8 ounces sour cream
1 cup half-and-half cream
⅔ cup salad dressing, NOT mayo
1 tablespoon dill
1 tablespoon kosher salt, plus 1 T
½ cup sugar (or to taste)
1 ½ teaspoons black pepper, coarse ground (optional)
2 tablespoons cider vinegar

The night before: Peel cukes and slice to desired thickness.

Cover with a heavy plate and refrigerate overnight.

The next morning: Drain cukes, but do NOT rinse.
