Slice loaf of bread into 1-inch thick slices, this will make approximately 8-9 slices.

Break eggs into a rectangular dish suitable for dipping bread slices. Add heavy cream and vanilla. Whisk together.

Mix the cinnamon and sugar together in small bowl.

Heat a medium size skillet over medium heat and add approximately 1 Tablespoon of butter. Once butter has melted dip a couple of slices of bread into the egg mixture. Sprinkle cinnamon/sugar mixture onto one side of dipped bread and put that side down in the skillet. Sprinkle the top side with cinnamon/sugar mixture. Let the bread brown on both sides, remove from skillet and place on plate. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired and maple syrup. Cook rest of dipped slices of bread adding tbsp of butter each time to skillet.
