1
For the pizza crust dough: In a small cup or bowl, dissolve the yeast and brown sugar in the warm water and let it sit for 10 minutes.
-
2
Then stir in salt and olive oil.
-
3
Pour this mixture onto 3 cups of flour that have been measured out into a bowl.
-
4
Dump the dough onto a well-floured surface.
-
5
Measure out the remaining flour and slowly start kneading it in.
-
6
As I said, the dough should not be sticky.
-
7
You may need more or less flour, so just keep kneading and adding the flour slowly until its no longer sticky.
-
8
Place the dough into a well oiled bowl, cover with a dish cloth, and place in a warm, dry place and let it rise for an hour.
-
9
I always keep my dough in the microwave so its out of the way!
-
10
After the hour is up, the dough should be significantly larger.
-
11
Punch it down, and then dump it out onto a lightly floured surface.
-
12
Cut the dough into two equal pieces.
-
13
Roll out both sections of dough with your hands or a floured rolling pin.
-
14
If youre using your hands, gently press down and out onto the dough, until its a large circle!
-
15
I think our dough was about 1/2 inch thick.
-
16
For the pizza sauce: In a medium sized bowl mix together refried beans, taco sauce, and pizza sauce.
-
17
Set aside.
-
18
To assemble the pizza: Preheat oven with 2 pizza stones inside for 15 minutes at 425 F.
-
19
Top each piece of dough with pizza sauce leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
-
20
Top the sauce with mozzarella cheese, then add the ground beef (browned and then mixed with taco seasoning), and then colby jack.
-
21
Move the pizzas onto the hot stones using a pizza peel.
-
22
Bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted!
-
23
Cut with a pizza cutter and top with desired topping!
-
24
We always top with shredded lettuce, sour cream, taco sauce, and crushed taco flavored Doritos, but the possibilities are endless!
