This recipe was taken from a cookbook that I found years ago while I was nursing.
-
2
Our family has enjoyed them many, many times, and I have tweaked over the course of time.

3
You can ask the butcher to cut the ribs in half lengthwise for you so you have riblets.
-
4
Preheat your ovens broiler.
-
5
Cut the ribs into managable chunks and season well with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
-
6
Pull out a roaster pan or set a cookie cooling rack on top of a rimmed cookie sheet.
-
7
Put the ribs on the pan or rack.
-
8
Broil the ribs under the broiler about 5 minutes per side.
-
9
Note that they dont have to be cooked through at this point.
-
10
In a large pot over medium heat mix together the sugar, vinegar and soy sauce.
-
11
Whisk together the flour and water in a small bowl and add it to the pot with the other ingredients.
-
12
Bring the mixture to a boil.
-
13
Simmer until it starts to thicken.
-
14
Once you have finished broiling all the ribs, cut them into individual pieces.
-
15
Then put them into the pot with the sauce, make sure that they are all nicely coated and covered, then simmer in the sauce for 45-60 minutes.
-
16
You want to cook them until the meat is starting to pull away from the bone.
-
17
Serve over basmati rice with your favourite vegetable.
