½ cup dried onion
8 ounces canned ham
8 ounces canned chicken
⅛ cup butter
8 ounces monterey jack cheese
2 teaspoons pepper, divided
3 (16 ounce) cans candied yams, drained
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
¼ cup milk
1 cup flour
1 ½ cups corn flakes, crushed
vegetable oil (for frying)

soak dried onions in hot water for 10 minutes.
