Southern Pecan Pie

   Place pecan halves in a pattern in bottom of unbaked pastry shell.

   Beat eggs slightly; mix in corn syrup, sugar, margarine, vanilla and salt.

   Gently pour into unbaked shell.

   Bake at 400u00b0 for 15 minutes; lower temperature to 350u00b0 and cook an additional 30 to 35 minutes (filling should be slightly less set in center than around edge).

   Yields one 9-inch pie.
