5 ⅓ cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder
1 ¼ teaspoons salt
1 ¼ teaspoons ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon clove
1 ¼ cups butter, plus
1 tablespoon butter, softened
2 ½ teaspoons vanilla
1 egg
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons orange zest

Place raisins in large bowl and cover with boiling water.

Let stand for 10 minutes.

Drain and pat dry with paper towels.

In separate bowl, stir together flour, soda, powder, salt, nutmeg and cloves, set aside.

In another large bowl, cream butter and sugar together.

Stir in flour mixture one cup at a time, until thoroughly mixed.

Drop by rounded teaspoons onto lightly greased baking sheets placing about two inches apart.
