   preheat oven to 350

   sift flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl

   beat together butter and shortening.

   add 1 1/2 cup sugar and beat until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes

   add eggs one at a time, beating well after adding each.

   add flour mixture and blend until smooth

   mix 3 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon.

   roll dough into 1 1/2 in balls, roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture and flatten onto a cookie sheet

   bake about 11 minutes.
