   Cream butter and sugar well.

   Beat in the milk and vanilla. Add chopped cherries and walnuts.

   Fold in flour.

   Form dough into 2 eight-inch logs.

   Roll in coconut and wrap tightly in plastic wrap.

   Chill well.

   Cut into 1/2-inch slices.
