Oven method: Preheat oven to 350 F. Ninja: Preheat to roasting setting at 375 F.

Pat your roast dry and season generously with your preferred dry rub/BBQ seasoning.

In a deep skillet over high heat, heat the oil.

Then add the roast.

Sear the roast on all sides until a nice and caramelized, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Remove roast from pan and place in an oven roasting pan (pr of using a Ninja, place on roasting rack in Ninja) and roast for about 1 hour 15 minutes or until internal temperature is at 145 F in the thickest part of the roast.

Start preparing the sauce with about 30 minutes left.

Remove the roast from the oven/Ninja (keep oven/Ninja on), let it rest for about 10 minutes then shred with 2 forks.

Toss it in a bowl with the sauce (recipe below) and place back in the Ninja or oven for about 10 minutes to allow the sauce to caramelize onto the meat.

Remove when done and serve on toasty buns!

For the sauce: Combine BBQ sauce, root beer, salt, garlic, Liquid Smoke, brown sugar and mustard in a saucepan.

Bring to a boil over medium high heat.

Reduce heat and allow to simmer for about 15-20 minutes stirring occasionally.

The sauce will reduce allowing the flavors to blend together perfectly.
