King syrup (dark); 1/2 c. dark brown sugar, packed; salt and pepper to taste; 1 1/2 c. ketchup, thinned with water; 2 Tbsp. mustard; 1/4 tsp. vinegar; 1 large onion, chopped fine

3 (1 lb.) cans Great Northern beans
1 lb. bacon
1/4 c. baking molasses (Brer Rabbit orange label, light and mild)
1/2 c. King syrup (dark)
1/2 c. dark brown sugar, packed
salt and pepper to taste
1 1/2 c. ketchup, thinned with water
2 Tbsp. mustard
1/4 tsp. vinegar
1 large onion, chopped fine

Fry bacon; drain and save 6 tablespoons grease.

In a saucepan, warm ketchup, onion, mustard, vinegar, brown sugar, King syrup, baking molasses and bacon grease until hot.

Stir bacon into beans, then pour sauce over beans in a baking pan.

Stir every now and then after it bubbles. Don't let it get too thick;
