Hi Leslie Here is the recipe It was published Wednessday, September 12, 2001.

We have made it numerous times.

5 Large Apples, unpeeled, cored and sliced into eights 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 2 cups sugar 4 large eggs 1 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup orange juice 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 cups sifted flour 3 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1.

Grease tube pan and dust with flour, shaking out excess.

Place apples in large bowl and mix cinnamon and 5 tablespoons of the sugar.

In a separate bowl, beat eggs and gradually add remaining sugar, oil, orange juice and vanilla.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.

Combine with egg mixture and mix until blended.

Pour 1/2 of the batter into prepared pan.

Layer with 1/2 of the apples.

Repeat the layers, ending with the apples on top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours until golden on top.

Let stand a few minutes, then unmold onto rack.

Cool.
