3/4 cup vegetable shortening softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour, all-purpose
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 each egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon water

Mix sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla.

Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.

Roll dough 18 inch thick on lightly floured cloth covered board.

Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Prepare Egg Yolk Paint by mixing egg yolk and water.

Divide mixture among several small custard cups.

Tint each with different food color to make bright colors.
