1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 (8 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
1 c. sliced celery
1 c. sliced carrots
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
1 lb. ground beef

Place beans in a large saucepan or Dutch oven and 4 1/2 cups water.

Soak overnight or bring beans to boiling, reduce heat and simmer for two minutes.

Remove from heat, covered, and let stand for 1 hour.

Blend 1/2 cup cold water slowly into flour.
