1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. brown sugar
2 c. rolled oats (reg or quick)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 tsp. soda
Raisins & Nuts (opt)

Cream shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Combine flour, soda, salt and baking powder and stir into creamed mixture. Add oats, vanilla, chocolate pieces, raisins and nuts and mix well. Drop by teaspoons onto lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes. Makes about 12 dozen.
