1
Place the Oreos (filling and all) in a food processor (do this in batches if necessary) and process until fine crumbs are formed and large chunks are gone.
-
2
Put the crumbs into a large bowl.
-
3
Mix in the softened cream cheese until very well combined and the dough becomes sticky.
-
4
Roll about 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoon sized scoops of dough into balls and set aside on a plate or in a container that you can fit in the freezer.
-
5
Freeze the balls for at least 30 minutes.
-
6
Bakers chocolate bars melt really well in the microwave and are ideal for dipping.
-
7
(Chocolate chips, not so much.)
-
8
Place the white chocolate in a small microwave safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until melted.
-
9
Heres how I dipped the Oreo balls into the chocolate: Cover a few small plates with wax paper.
-
10
Remove 1-2 Oreo balls from the freezer at a time.
-
11
Drop them into the chocolate and roll them around carefully with a fork (try not to pierce them) There is likely one part that is flatter, which was the bottom of the ball when it sat in the freezer.
-
12
Slide the fork underneath the flatter part and lift.
-
13
Slide the bottom of the fork across the edge of the bowl to let the excess chocolate drip off, then set on top of the wax paper.
-
14
The chocolate sets pretty quickly which is nice, but I would transport them right to the fridge to speed up the process and keep them nice and smooth.
-
15
Repeat until all of the balls are coated.
-
16
You may now refer to these, as truffles!
-
17
For the decoration: This was just fun.
-
18
I melted the semi-sweet chocolate in the microwave (similar 30 second increments as before) and placed the balls on a large plate once they had all set.
-
19
Then, I dipped the tip of a fork into the chocolate and shook it a bit to let some of the chocolate drip back into the bowl.
-
20
Then, I raised the fork high above the truffles and waved the fork around so the chocolate would fling off in thin streams onto the Oreo balls.
-
21
It was really entertaining.
-
22
I got chocolate all over the counter.
-
23
But they looked really cool so it was worth it.
-
24
You can also top them with sprinkles or Oreo crumbs right after theyve been dipped.
-
25
Then youre done!
