   Mix shortening and brown sugar thoroughly.

   Sift together the dry ingredients and stir in.

   Mix in desired nuts.

   Mix thoroughly with hands.

   Press into a smooth roll

   2 1/2 inches in diameter.

   Wrap in waxed paper.

   Chill until stiff (several hours or overnight).

    With thin, sharp knife, slice into thin slices, 1/8 to 1/16-inch thick.

    Place a little apart on ungreased baking sheet.

    Bake until lightly browned at 400u00b0, 6 to 8 minutes.
