In a large bowl, whisk together the marinade ingredients and place it in a 9 inch by 13 inch glass dish. Put in the lamb, cover with plastic wrap and marinate, turning occasionally, 4-6 hours.
2
When ready to grill, combine all the sauce ingredients in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Whisk and bring to a boil. Once a boil is reached, lower the heat to simmer and stir occasionally for about 15 minutes. Remove from the heat.
3
Prepare the grill; if using gas, have heat at medium temperature. For coals, medium, not too hit. Drain the lamb and discard the marinade. Place the lamb directly on the grill and cover. Cook 35 minutes, turning occasionally to cook the meat uniformly. The thicker portions should reach an internal temparature of 140 degrees F. when tested with a meat thermometer. Put aside half of the sauce for table service.
4
During the final 15 minutes of grilling, baste the lamb with the other half of the sauce.
5
Serve with the remaing warmed sauce at the table.
