Preheat oven to 400u00b0F. Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water, according to package instructions.

Remove the sausage meat from the casings and form into small balls. Heat oil in a large frying pan and sear the balls until browned on all sides then remove and drain on paper towels.

Saute the onion in the same pan then add the tomato paste and canned tomatoes. Bring to a boil, mashing the tomatoes slightly and cook for about 15 minutes. Add the thyme and season with salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar.
