["Trim and clean your flank steak, getting rid of excess fat and membrane. In a mortar and pestle (or a bowl with a spoon) grind together the salt and garlic into a smooth paste. Crush in the peppercorns and oregano. Add the soy and olive oil, and tomato paste, mix into a paste and let sit a half hour or so. Score the steak on one side diagonally and opposite (to make a diamond pattern about 1/8"" deep). Smear half the paste on the top, half on the bottom and let ""marinate"" overnight (preferably), or 8hrs. Grill over set coals (or broil) 8 minutes, turn, and 8 more. Rest about 10 to 15 minutes and slice thinly (1/4 to 1/2 inch) across the grain of the meat) and serve with roasted vegetables, potatoes, rice, or your own favorite side."]
