1/4 c. powdered milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. margarine
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1 Tbsp. anise seed
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift together flour, soda, dry milk, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Cream margarine (or shortening) and sugars.

Blend in dry ingredients and add anise seed and nuts.

Shape into two rolls; wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate at least 4 hours; overnight is fine.

Slice and bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375u00b0 for 9 to 12 minutes.
