1 c. water
2 c. raisins
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Sift together first 5 ingredients.

Add water to raisins and boil for 5 minutes, until liquid is decreased to 1/2 cup.

Cool and drain.

Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs, blending well after each.

Add vanilla, nuts and raisins.
