Mozzarella cheese, sliced

1/2 lb. ground beef
1 clove minced garlic
1 Tbsp. whole basil
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
1 box lasagna noodles (8 to 10 noodles)
3 c. creamy cottage cheese
1/2 c. grated Romano cheese
