Japanese-style Garlic Steak Sauce

   Peel the garlic, take out the core (which burns easily) and slice a bit on the thick side.

   Warm oil (or beef fat) in a frying pan, and fry the sliced garlic over low heat until it's lightly colored to make the garlic chips.

   Take the garlic chips out of the pan, add the ingredients to the frying pan and simmer over low heat.

   If you simmer it too long it will become too salty, so just try to burn off the alcohol.

   Taste, and if it's too salty, add some water to adjust.

   Add coarsely-ground black pepper and butter.

   Return the garlic chips to the sauce and it's done.
