1
In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
-
2
Add sugar, salt, butter, eggs and flour.
-
3
When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead until smooth, about 8 minutes.
-
4
Lightly flour a large mixing, place the dough in the bowl, and sprinkle over olive oil.
-
5
Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
-
6
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
-
7
Prepare the ham and cheese in a medium mixing bowl; set aside.
-
8
Melt 4 tablespoons of butter, add garlic and olive oil.
-
9
Deflate the dough, and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.
-
10
Roll dough into a large rectangle, spread the butter mix over the surface, add spice after your own taste and then spread the cheese and ham evenly.
-
11
Roll up the dough from the long side (like when you make cinnamon rolls).
-
12
You may want to cut the roll into 3 now, to be able to handle them.
-
13
Roll them a bit thinner, tuck the dough in on the sides and place on baking sheets.
-
14
Let rise about 40 minutes, covered.
-
15
Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
-
16
Let rest for a while before you cut it.
