Grandma Nick's Date Nut Cookies Recipe

   Dough: Cream shortening, sugar and add in rest of ingredients as listed.

   Place in covered container and refrigerateovernight.

   Filling: Mix all ingredients and cook over low heat till thick, stirring to prevent burning.

   Remove dough from refrigerator, roll out and cut into 2 or possibly 3 inch rounds.

   Place spoonful of filling on half of rounds, top with remaining rounds, sealing edges by pressing lightly with fork.

   Bake on ungreased cookie sheets 10 to 15 min at 375 degrees.
