1
Cut the potatoes into quarters.
-
2
Slice the onion 1cm thick.
-
3
Cut each bacon slice into 4 pieces.
-
4
Dissolve the chicken soup stock granules in 200 ml of hot water.
-
5
If you want a sharp, refreshing finish, add the grainy mustard here too.
-
6
Put the butter, soup stock, potatoes, onion, and bacon in the rice cooker in that order.
-
7
Add some coarsely ground black pepper to taste.
-
8
Switch on the rice cooker as usual.
-
9
When the signal sounds, it's done.
-
10
Transfer to a serving plate and top with parsley...
-
11
Now you have delicious German potatoes.
-
12
Variation 1: Use pork instead of bacon and add a generous amount.
-
13
Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce or ponzu sauce, and it becomes like nikujaga (simmered potatoes and meat).
-
14
I tried cutting a 300g block of bacon into 10 pieces, and using 300 ml of chicken soup stock to make the potatoes.
-
15
^^
-
16
Not all the ingredients will be immersed in the soup, but not to worry.
-
17
Be sure to put the potatoes on the bottom!
-
18
I added a bay leaf too for its rich flavor.
-
19
This is a version of German potatoes where the bacon is the star.
-
20
If you slice the potatoes rather than quartering them, the flavors penetrate it better maybe?
-
21
The potato pieces become really tender, and it looks more luxurious.
-
22
Guest should be happy with it too.
-
23
C-chan made it with sausages.
-
24
She says sausages are good in this too.
-
25
It was good with ham too, but the ham does get a bit tough...
-
26
Here's a version with mukago (nagaimo yam bulbets) which have a limited season.
-
27
This was delicious too.
-
28
Here I used 1 teaspoon of soup stock and 1 teaspoon of curry powder for a curry flavored version.
-
29
