Combine next 7 ingredients in a mixing bowl; beat at low speed until dry ingredients are moistened.

Increase speed to medium; beat 4 minutes.

Stir in remaining 1/2 cup almonds.

Pour batter into tube pan.

Bake at 325u00b0 for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

Cool cake in pan 10 to 15 minutes; remove and cool completely.
