In skillet, melt butter; stir in brown sugar until dissolved. Add the oat flakes and walnuts.

Stir over low heat until nuts are toasted and oat flakes are glazed.

Beat egg whites until foamy.

Add granulated sugar gradually and beat until stiff and glossy.

Without washing beaters, in another bowl beat the egg yolks until light and fluffy.

Beat in juice and rind of 1/2 lemon and 1 orange. Whip the cream together until blended. Sprinkle 2/3 of the oat flake mixture in a 9-inch oblong pan. Top with citrus mixture. Sprinkle with remaining oat flakes. Cover. Freeze until firm, 2 to 4 hours.

Remove from freezer 20 to 30 minutes before serving.
