Ingredients: 1 lb lima beans, cleaned and drained; 2 tablespoons olive oil; 4 large garlic cloves, minced; 1 large onion, coarsely chopped; 2 large carrots, coarsely chopped; 1 ½ teaspoons dried thyme; 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crumbled; 5 cups chicken stock or 5 cups vegetable broth; 4 cups water; 4 cups coarsely chopped cabbage; 1 lb smoked sausage, quartered lengthwise and sliced; 1 baking potato, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes; ½ cup shell macaroni; salt and pepper

5 cups chicken stock or 5 cups vegetable broth
4 cups water
4 cups coarsely chopped cabbage
1 lb smoked sausage, quartered lengthwise and sliced
1 baking potato, peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes
½ cup shell macaroni

In a wide 8 quart pot or dutch oven, heat 2 tbls.

Stir in garlic, onions, carrots, thyme and rosemary.

Saute until vegetables soften, about 10 minutes.

Stir in broth, 4 cups water, cabbage, lima beans, and sausage.

Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer , partially covered, for 45-55 minutes or until beans are tender.

Stir in potato and macaroni.

Simmer uncovered for 10-15 minuted or until cooked through.
