3/4 c. white sugar

3/4 c. corn oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped nuts

Mix flour, first 2 sugars, oil, salt and nutmeg.

Take out 3/4 cup of mixture for topping.

To this 3/4 cup mixture, add the 2 tablespoons brown sugar and chopped nuts.

To first mixture, add the buttermilk, egg, baking powder and soda.

Mix until lumps are out.

Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
