1
In a pot of salted water, simmer the chicken till tender.
-
2
(You can save the water/broth if you just want to use that instead of buying chicken broth.)
-
3
Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray (we use a big dish, probably about 19x8x2, but weve used a 9x13 dish and it fits).
-
4
Tear the chicken into bite-size chunks and lay them flat on the bottom of the dish.
-
5
Next add the broccoli over the chicken.
-
6
In a saucepan, melt the margarine, then add flour and salt to it, stirring till it mixes together.
-
7
Next add milk and broth, cooking and stirring till its creamy and thick.
-
8
In a bowl, beat the lemon juice and mayonnaise together, mixing it into the sauce and taking the saucepan off the heat.
-
9
Pour the sauce over the meat and vegetables.
-
10
After that, cut the bread into cubes and sprinkle the bread over the dish, putting shredded cheese on top of that.
-
11
Stick the dish in the oven for about 25 minutes on 350F or until the cheese is golden brown.
-
12
Then eat!
-
13
Note: We cook about 2 cups of rice for us and scoop some in a bowl and put the casserole over that.
-
14
Its a good idea to try that.
-
15
It soaks up some of the sauce.
