6 slices day old bread
4 c. chopped, cooked chicken
1/2 c. onion
1/2 c. pepper
1/2 c. celery
1/2 c. mayonnaise
3/4 tsp. salt
2 slightly beaten eggs
1 1/2 c. milk
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 c. shredded cheese

Butter bread and set aside.

Combine chicken, onion, pepper, celery and mayonnaise in a large bowl.

In another bowl, combine eggs, milk and soup.

Cube 2 slices of bread and put in bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Cover with half of the chicken mixture and half of the soup mixture.

Cube 2 more slices of bread.

Layer chicken, soup and top with bread.

Bake at 325u00b0 for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and top with cheese. Bake another 30 minutes. Let stand 30 minutes.
