Brown Sugar Cookies

   Beat together shortening, brown sugar, egg and vanilla until fluffy.

   Add flour, baking powder and salt.

   Mix well.

   Stir in nuts.

   Drop by spoonfuls 2-inches apart onto greased cookie sheet. Dip bottom of small greased glass into granulated sugar and press cookie flat.

   Bake at 350u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.

   Cool on rack. Makes 5 dozen.
