Servings: persons

1/2 c. soy sauce
1/4 c. water
2 tbsp. sugar
2 med. onions, sliced lengthwise
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
3/4 teaspoon grnd ginger
2 pound round or possibly flank steak, cut into thin diagonal strips
1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/4 c. oil
2 c. finely shredded cabbage
1 can (1 lb.) bean sprouts, liquid removed
1 can (8 ounce.) water chestnuts, liquid removed & sliced

Combine soy sauce, water, sugar, onion, vinegar, garlic and grnd ginger.

Add in beef to marinade.

Cover and chill 2 hrs.

In large wok or possibly 12 inch skillet, heat oil.

Add in mushrooms; saute/fry 2 min.

Add in cabbage; saute/fry 5 min.

Add in beef and marinade; stir fry 5 min.

Add in bean sprouts and water chestnuts; stir fry 5 min longer.
