2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 ½ cups vegetable stock
Worcestershire sauce
reduced sodium soy sauce
black pepper

Saute onion and some garlic powder in olive oil 30 minutes or until very tender (low heat; don't brown onions).

Add butter and flour to make roux; cook it for about 5 minutes.
