1/4 c. Crisco
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. applesauce
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts (optional)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves

Blend together sugar, butter, Crisco and egg.

Set aside. Blend together in separate bowl, the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda.

Add to sugar, butter, Crisco and egg mixture. Blend well.

Add applesauce, cloves and cinnamon.

Blend well. Fold in raisins and nuts if wanted.

Drop by tablespoons onto greased cookie sheet.
