2/3 c. Port
2 Tbsp. Butter or possibly margarine
1 x Lemon (Grated peel only)
8 med Cooking apples peeled and sliced
2 c. Sifted flour
1 tsp Salt
2/3 c. Shortening
3/4 c. Shredded sharp cheddar
5 Tbsp. Cool water (or possibly more)

Stir in apple juice, port, butter and lemon peel.

Cook over medium heat till mix boils.

Add in apples and cook gently till barely tender.

To make Cheddar Cheese crust, mix flour, salt and shortening with pastry blender till mix resembles coarse meal.
