Dissolve coffee in hot water. Stir in melted chocolate. Beat egg whites just until stiff moist peaks form.

In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until creamy. Beat in almond paste. Mix in egg yolks, melted chocolate mixture, and flour. Fold in the beaten egg whites about 1/3 at a time, just until blended. Spread into a greased and cocoa dusted 8 in round cake pan. Bake 350 degree's for 30 min. until lightly browned, do not over bake.

Let cool on rack about 10 min. turn out of pan. Cool thoroughly, then spread glaze over top. Let stand until glaze hardens about 2 hr or 15 min chilled.

Glaze: Use double boiler, combine 4 ounces of semisweet chocolate and 1 tbsp solid shortening. Sir over barely simmering water just until melted. Remove from heat and cool, stirring occasionally, until cools and thickens.
