Baking the bacon a rack on top of a sheet pan for about 20mins at 400F Put the bacon on a plate lined with paper towels and crumble when it is cool.

In a large pot of boiling salted water, add a drizzle of olive oil to the water.

Cook the pasta according to the boxes directions.

heat the milk in a small saucepan, but don't boil it.

In a medium size saucepan, melt the butter and prepare a rue with the flour.

Whisk in the hot/warm milk and cook for 1 minute or 2 (until thick and smooth).

Off the heat, add all the cheese, 1 tsp salt, some pepper, and a dash nutmeg.

Stir in the pasta and bacon.

Pour the pasta and cheese mixture into a baking dish (13 x 9 x 2).

Put the bread slices and basil in a food processor and pulse until there are crumbs.

Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture over the top of the pasta.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 400 F (or until the sauce is bubbly and the pasta is browned on the top).
