2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 egg white
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. brown sugar

Cream the shortening and sugar until light. Add eggs and vanilla, then flour, salt and baking powder, sifted together.

Mix well. Spread in greased pan. Spread on top of cake a mixture of the egg white, nuts and brown sugar.

Add sugar gradually to the egg white while beating until stiff. Fold in the chopped nuts. Bake in a 350u00b0 oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Cut in squares while hot.
