1. Bake cake and let cool.

(Can be made one day ahead.)

2. Prepare pudding leaving out 1/4 cup of milk from original measurement. Simmer pudding and milk until thickened. Remove from heat and add 1/4 cup liquor. Place plastic wrap directly onto top of pudding as it cools to prevent thick film from developing on the top of the pudding. Let cool completely before proceeding to next step.

(Note: If you want to omit liquor cook pudding with original milk measurement. After pudding has thickened remove from heat and add 1/2-1 teaspoon of almond extract. Start with 1/2 tsp and add another 1/2 if desired.)

3. Cut cake in half, crumble 1/2 of cake into bottom of triffle bowl. Spread half of pudding over cake layer. Slice strawberries and place over pudding. Place more strawberries along side of glass bowl to be decorative through sides of bowl. (I push these strawberries along the side of bowl down into pudding layer so they stay in place.) Layer 1/2 of Cool Whip over strawberries. Sprinkle Cool Whip with1/2 of Heath Bits.

4. Repeat Layers. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit overnight.
